Most digital invitations are one page, and everybody gets the same address for it. That works, but it gives up the two things that make an invitation feel like it was meant for you.
A private guest link is the alternative: one address per guest, all of them pointing at the same invitation, each showing something slightly different.
What changes
It knows their name. The greeting says it. Not "Dear Guest" — their name, the way you entered it.
It knows how many seats they have. If you have held four places for a family, their page says four. Nobody has to ask, and nobody has to guess and bring six.
It only shows their events. A guest invited to the reception sees the reception. They do not scroll past three functions they were not invited to, wondering.
What it does not do
It is not a password and it is not security. The link is unguessable, not secret — anyone who is forwarded it can open it. That is the right trade: an invitation that demanded a login would be an invitation half your relatives never opened.
So put nothing on a card that would matter if it were forwarded. For an invitation, that is a comfortable bar.
Getting the list in
The list is the actual work — not the design. A few things make it faster:
- Add families as one entry with a headcount, not as separate people. "The
Malik family, 5" is one row and one link.
- Do the big functions first. Most guests are attached to one or two events,
and you can add the rest later.
- You can keep adding guests after you have started sending. Nothing has to be
finished before anything goes out.
Changes reach everyone
The venue moves, the timing shifts, a phone number turns out to be wrong. You change it once, and every link you have already sent is correct immediately.
That is the part people do not expect, and it is the reason the whole thing is worth doing. A printed card is a decision you cannot revisit. This one you can.
